DUTP telemedicine platform

The Dhaka University Telemedicine Program delivers primary healthcare remotely to rural Bangladesh, where most of the population lives but few qualified doctors practise. I designed and built the web platform behind it, first as my PhD work at the Department of Biomedical Physics & Technology and later as a postdoctoral research fellow leading its development and deployment.

The platform replaced a basic electronic health record from a 2013–2015 field trial. I evaluated four other rural telemedicine programs, worked closely with operators, doctors and administrators to define what a robust system needed, and built those tools into one integrated platform suited to low-resource settings. It runs in 40+ rural centres, is used by 20+ general practitioners and specialists, and has handled 35,000+ remote consultations. The interface is in Bangla and English, and it integrates a 12-lead ECG and a digital stethoscope developed in-house.
